Should I assume it is for tilefishing? If so, depending on your budget, I recommend either a Daiwa Tanacom 750 or a Daiwa Megatwin 750. I second Dave's suggestions - I did a LOT of research on this topic for my fishing buddy and for someone who will use the reel a few times a year at most for tile fishing, these reels are the obvious choices. Visit The Reel Seat in Brielle - they'll have everything you need and all the great advice you could ever want.

Dave - for tilefishing - what would be a good rod to match the 750 with? What are your opinions on either bent or straigh butts?

While waiting for Dave's reply, I'll chime in my opinion on the rods...

I have an 8' Reel Seat Custom Tile Fish Rod and absolutely love it

That said, my buddy fishes a Shakespeare Ugly Stick BWB 1120 - 8' rod and has no complaints - it gets the job done. It's in a whole different class than the custom Reel Seat rod but still solid for the price point.

Depends on how you plan to fish for them. If you are going to just put the rod in a rod holder, wait for a bite and then "push" the button, I would recommend a bent butt. If you want to be more hands on and hold the rod and feel the bite then go with a straight butt rod. I designed the Reel Seat tile rods based on my own experiences tilefishing. They would be my first choice. The Shakespeare 1120-8 is adequate but falls short when you need more then 36 ounces of lead.
