Bird ID.......

Had the dog running in the marsh trails in Waretown recently and came up these birds. About 15-18" tall. All dark brown and black heads. Long curved beaks.

Any idea what they are. Never seen them before. Googled some images and found similar birds but coloring didn't match. B
