Default Pike, Eyes and Broken Stripes

Being that I won't be able to get out on the water until sometime next week due to obligations and being in a wedding, I had to get as much in as I could the past week. Managed a few zombie trips up to the Big Lake with my Team Relax NJ buddies and ScowardNJ, pre and post rain. Pre-rain action was hot and heavy with lots of herring and predator activity all night until we left them biting around 1am. Post-rain, a lot quieter with the occasional herring spawning and big blowups few and far between. Lake temps were down a few degrees, but the rain helped clear some surface weeds. All fish came on stickbaits off the weedline. We did have some action on true topwaters before the rain, none post-rain. Biggest Walleyes went 25" and 23".

Over the weekend I managed 2 nice float trips on the river. Covered about 8 miles and had slow pickings. Managed to land 5 Pike up to 30" with a handful more hooked up and lost. Of course, this was pre-rain. I have not been down to the river since. Lots of short strikes and last minute swipes. Give it another few weeks and it will be game on. Big bladed SB's and big jointed stuff produced. A few pics...

So much great fishing going on right now all over the State. Everything from bass to trout, walleye, catfish, pike and hybrids. Stop wishin' and start fishin' !!
Won't be long now till the summer dog days set in, the time is now ! We got the much needed rain also, another plus.
Thanx for the fish porn !!

Normally I wouldn't bother photographing a fish that small, but it definetly was one of the prettier Pike I've landed. I have noticed a majority of the Pike have the small white oval markings while a smaller percentage have the connecting line markings similar to a Chain Pickerel. I prefer the later .

Nice weekly mixed bag budddddddy! Some very pretty fish in these pics. Great markings on the future 62 inch Pike. Beautiful Walleye and all! What's that thing under all those leaves in the one pic. Funny shape if it's a Carp? No?
