![]() what a great season so far and I think we will be cutting holes almost to the end of march.i have had the opportunity to fish allot of private lakes this season with some super results.i know we have the nj contest this year{thanks Eddie] and I should be fishing more of the public access lakes but man
those private lakes are fun.all catch and release, except a few crappies and perch.i fished a lake on Saturday with a friend and we had fish from start to finish.i know its not the hunt that we get when we fish a lake like Hopatcong or monksville but man is it fun.as a guest it was great fun and it was truly great to see how these lakes are clean and well taken care of. |

![]() I'll agree to some point.
While private lakes are fun in terms of fishing and watching your flags fly all day long I to find it enjoyable when I have to work for my fish. Yeah I might not get the 10 or 20 I get from privates but its nothing compared to the feeling you get when your one lonely flag finally shoots up in the air and your hear and feel the line being shredded of like there is a loch ness monsta out there. Sure enough its only a 15 inch pickerel but man just makes you want to come back for more. Just my two cents. Andre |

![]() I do both, sometimes you just need to catch fish though between the long fruitless hunts before you finally nab a beast from a place like cong. even if just to get some confidence (which can mean a lot in fishing, gives you more patients to stick with what you 'know' will work or change to what you 'know' might work haha)
I'm keeping stats on myself just for my own fun this year, i want to know an exact number of fish caught, how many days fished, etc...without having to estimate...i think it'll be a cool thing to know at the end of the year. anyway, so far i've fished on 15 days (pretty much every weekend day, best i can do for winter) caught 86 fish, of 11 different species, in 12 different lakes (3 private, 9 public). I have not been skunked yet (crap did i just jinx myself?) and I have 4 SA perch and 1 SA sunfish chalked up along with some close call lm bass and crappie. I've witnessed my friends catch some nice fish with me as well, including a big carp and a SA bullhead and SA crappie. plus i've only lost 2 nice big fish so far at the hole! haha I'm going to agree with bunker dunker and say great ice season so far! my best so far! let's keep it rippin! |

![]() Def a good season so far. Tons of fish caught locally, including a pb yellow perch and a pb crappie. My quest for a musky has been fruitless, but that's musky fishing! Just missed getting one on open water, then once things froze up, I struck out a number of times. I've learned quite a bit about targeting larger fish thru the ice from a few members of the board. That alone is worth it's weight in gold! Hopefully I bag a decent esox species before the sun sets on my ice fishing season... Which will be much sooner rather than later!

![]() I'm with you boyz, this season has been pretty good so far for me as well. Jeremy and my daughter and myself have been slaying the fish at a local lake near to where we live. The amounts of action and fish caught is crazy. Primarily largemouths between 14-16"s with a few better sized ones but not the hogs we caught last year. We know they are there but can't find them but if we do one will put us in first place for sure by more than 1/8" of an inch. There's also tons of big thick yellow perch in there about 12-13" with a few fatties too! A couple of crappies and a insane amount of these 10-12" pickerel too. We love the lake for the action. I made a few trips out for musky's too but didn't hook into one yet and finally made a trip up north this past weekend to catch a few large Pickerel. Hoping to pull some thing BIG before it's ice out! Going to spend the majority of the ice season left headin north and finishing up the hard water season strong! Had a lot of laughs and met a few great people along this crazy ride!!!!! FLAG!!!!!!!! Hoping to have a surprise up our sleeves at Spruce this weekend!!! Hope to see everyone there!!!!!!!
