Re: How to mark braided line
Did you try a permanent marker? Also recently saw someone using tiny rubberbands but it was on a larger reel/pole set up.

Re: How to mark braided line
Switch to Power Pro Depth Hunter, changes color every 25' and has black marks every 5'

Re: How to mark braided line
Waxed floss half hitched onto the braid about 1" long at each of lengths you specified would work. You can also glue a different colored hollowcore braid over your line to mark the depth.

Re: How to mark braided line
I use permanent marker, I use it on my braid and will use it when trolling with mono. I don't like to add anything that adds thickness to the line.
My jigging stick though, I use. Daiwa's Saltiga line. |

Re: How to mark braided line
Tie a nail knot or a PR knot with 20lb yellow braid on your main line at 100, 150 and 200. For the PR knot get a cheap PR bobben to get the knot tight.

Re: How to mark braided line
I use Permanent marker or whip finiish / nail knot, a length of HI Vis braid onto mainline.
Coat with knot sense U should be good to go! I only fish Hi Vis lines like red or blue so the knot or finish can be felt or seen. Clor coded braids R tough to follow so I use red braid & mark to 250' every fifty feet. Make mark with pen long enough to read when line is going out fast , the braid finish U can feel night or day . I feel these R better than CC braids since montiorting depth is very easy. |

Re: How to mark braided line
I read that you can approximate depth if fishing with a level-wind reel. Just measure how much line goes out when the level-wind goes from one side to the other.

Re: How to mark braided line
By knowing the distance between a raised and lowered rod tip, (about 8') you can count the times--IE: 8' X 10times=80'...Got that from Capt. Bob Bogan and it works--just don't lower rod too fast when dropping bait for deep tuna.
