Default Ocean Explorer Saturday

7-26-14 Flat calm,,beautiful out today..Perfect drift with a light sw breeze..We had very good fishing today,,non stop action as soon as I blew the horn this morning...Sammy who won the pool yesterday was back today and had his limit of nice fluke by 9:30 this morning..He ended up catching another limit for someone else so he was high hook with Ten keepers up to 4lbs...We had others with limits as well,,,most of the notable catches were all on the jigs,,,,nuclear chicken gulps or glo squidos worked the best today..The pool fish I believe caught by OJ.was on a pink and white grub..He also had another fish that took off from the net and pulled the hook at the surface that was even bigger,,maybe 8lbs...Loads of fish that just missed mixed in all around the boat but I noticed again with this ultra clean water that the rental rods and guys dragging bait did not fair as well as the guys jigging...Light leader,,,light leader...light leader....when it is clear like this I tell guys all the time to thin down with the leader..Sammy was using 15lb.flouro,,,sometimes 20 but I would not use any heavier,,it helps draw alot more bites...You also get alot more action with the jigs using the lighter stuff. We also had some nice sea bass,,and one baby thresher shark that got snagged and we let go...Great day to be fishing...Tomorrow I like as well..Sw winds again,,,chance of rain but who cares....See ya tomorrow..pics..
