Where Can You Junk a Hull
I have a 1996 23' fiberglass Glastron that is solid but ugly with bad steering and bad tanks.
I am going to sell the 98 Yamaha 230 and the aluminum trailer. The big question is what to do with the hull? Is there a junk yard for these things? Where can I take it (now if it was aluminum, that would be a whole different story) |

Re: Where Can You Junk a Hull
We scrap boats at Sea Tow all the time. Now have a seat for the news.
#1- ALL metal must be removed from the hull. All means all. Every single screw must be gone. They check. OBVIOUSLY all liquids like fuel and oil must be removed too #2 - The yard charges ( or used to last I checked) about $600 to rid you of the stripped down boat. This is why some uninsured boats dont pay to touch and just ignore it free floating. And to restate the obvious- it is illegal to scuttle or abandon it.

Re: Where Can You Junk a Hull
I guess they grind it up if they want the metal out but what about tanks that are buried in the hull? Do you have to cut open the deck and pull it?
Also, where do we bring it? Is there an address? It is landside. |

Re: Where Can You Junk a Hull
I took my 23 to the transfer station on Bakeland ave in middlesex. They charged by the pound. They took it off my trailer with a backhoe. It was about $100.00

Re: Where Can You Junk a Hull
Jump on this if you can. That's a dream price. Even if you have to grease the flunky you talk to.

Re: Where Can You Junk a Hull
Find a reef site, clean all fuel and oil out and sink it...
