Default sheddy morning

got up dark and early and was launched on oak ridge a half hour before dawn this morning. i don't know when, but pretty recently they have drawn the reservoir down a foot or foot and a half or so from the normal level. lots of exposed shoreline, rock piles, etc. i thought this would be good, concentrate the fish at the drop offs a bit, but i wasn't catching a thing. weeds were real bad with the water lowered too. decided to call an audible and head over to clinton reservoir instead.

was launched there by 8 and it was non stop schoolie sammies. nothing bigger than 12", but mildly entertaining when 4 other fish are trying to take the lure out of the mouth of the one you are catching

didn't bother with any other pictures. by 9 things were slowing down, so i trolled a lap. picked away at a some more SMB and a few decent perch but nothing to write home about. by 10:30 the bite was pretty dead, but i decided to stay until 12:30 anyway so i could catch a sunburn haha

CD-5 shad and HJ-10 perch were both producing. surface temps were 73° both reservoirs. watershed patrol was out in a jon boat with a gas outboard, something small, looked like an 8 hp or less, motoring around and checking out the boats on the water.

oh yeah, every other person i saw launch loaded their gear into the boat while on the ramp instead of while in a parking spot and then launching. sup with that!? i had to wait to leave oak ridge while some guy blocked the ramp for 10-15 minutes. where is the ramp courtesy?

Sonds like a nice morning....those little smallies can save the day for ya for sure. Catch a bunch like that in the NB of the Raritan this time of year. Fun fishing at it's best to me.

....and I think the ramp courtesy thing has taken a back seat to the overwhelming sense of entitlement and lack of consideration of others that seems to run rampant these days. It's their world and we are just in it I guess. OH...oblivious...that's the word...they're oblivious to anything outside of the thing in front of them. Yup I'm cranky...sorry.

Agreed it's Been tough out there this year at the sheds......we aren't having a good year also compared to past.....we hit OR on Friday morn and bite was dead as a doornail most of the day as well, so you're not alone....Didn't get much to show for our effort ........As far as the ramp thing, we get that also.it's prob attributed to more and more people fishing not used to pressure, alot of people just starting to fish and just don't really know proper courtesy, or some just getting used to a new boat and not knowing what they are doing....then again, some also are just plain a$$holes and don't care about courtesy........the worst are the kayakers who think their sh#t don't stink and act as if we are in their way launching at SR where their is only a small area to launch from.....these people are the worst....it's so funny, because in my years of experiemce, I have noticed that kayakers are very unfriendly people while out on the water, and disrespectful also....yesterday these 2 older people came as close as 30 feet from our boat while we were at one spot as if we were invisible....so we say hello. how's it going?, nice day to be on the water today, isn'yt it?..and they give us the look of death as if WE invaded their spot and keep on paddling after they mumbled something under their breath..........Fortunately not everyone in a kayak is like that there, but seriously, alot are that we have encountered while fishing............It's good to be out there, no matter what.......You'll get bigger fish next time,we all know they are in there
Here was out biggest from yesterday(which isn't saying much at all!!)
