I fished a new roadside pond near sundown with hip boots, waded half the shoreline and got 4 decent bass on the same scumfrog i used earlier at Farrington. The cannibalism made things funny

When I was a kid we would catch frogs using this method.

Use a red and white common plastic bobber any size will work but a smaller one like the size of a quarter works best for hookups.
Tie on a size 4 or 6 hook and place the bobber at the end of your line right on the hook.
Look for the bugeyes of a frog in the weeds and cast about 5 feet away from it.
Twitch the bobber a few times and laugh your ass off as the frog makes a beeline right for it and eats it.
We would catch dozens this way.
Why??? I'm not sure but is was fun and kept us out of trouble

when in canada we use live frogs for bait, they are deadly for big bass. I dont think nj lets us use them as bait, but I could be wrong. I was eating our shore lunch up in gananaque one time with my uncle....i seen a frog out of the corner of my eye, i told my uncle watch this.....I caught the frog hooked him up and tossed it off the dock....within 2 minutes I was hooked up with a 3.5lb large mouth....my uncle couldnt believe it!. Its like candy for bass

Interesting picture. I've noticed turtles will chase frog lures, too.

Live frogs are amazing baits. Largemouth Bass would hit them so hard, you could see them breach the water's surface like a Great White Shark attacking a seal.

As an adult, I gained a sense of empathy that won't allow me to put a hook in a frog's mouth. I like frogs. I guess I just can't hurt anything with arms and legs.

I've found areas that are covered with perfect bait sized leopard and green frogs but it's the same with me, things are too cute to hook and offer up for sacrifice!
