Sheperds Mills Pond 10/15
Hit Sheperds Mills this morning. We got on the water around 6:30 am. Water was gin clear, water had been dirty at points during late summer. We had a good bite and light winds for the first 2 hours. However, the fishing and the weather slowly deteriorated. By the last hour, the fishing was pretty much dead and the winds were horrendous. We got off the water at 11:30 am. We caught 36 bass and pickeral. Good topwater bite early on then a decent bite on Senkos until it died. Actually had a bass grab my Senko when I reeled it up to make another cast and this isn't the first time it happened. Kinda strange. Overall, a very good morning on the water considering the weather conditions.

Re: Sheperds Mills Pond 10/15
Thats really good for a windy day. On numerous occasions at RV, I've had smallmouth come from under the boat and grab shiners/herring just as I was pulling them out of the water, biggest around 12". One time, I had a loon dive underwater and grab a sunfish that I had on about 15ft beneath the boat. ..I reeled the s.o.b. to the boat (it fought very well!) and it put its feet against the side of the boat and was pulling backward while my dad was trying to get the hook out of the sunny's mouth...the bird was NOT going to let that sunfish go. It took about a minute, but my dad got the hook out and the bird fell backward into the water with the sunfish in its mouth and swam away. When we came back next week, the bird was dead with the sunny in its throat, tail was hanging out of its mouth. (7" sunny)I guess it was too big. Definately the weirdest thing that has happened to me fishing.

Re: Sheperds Mills Pond 10/15
Again, it was fairly calm for the first 2 hours and the fishing was very good. Sheperds Mills is protected by trees so it didn't get nasty out there until the wind really started to honk. However, the fishing did stay decent until the last hour. Shoulda been out there today and saltwater yesterday but that's my fault .
