It's a tough lake for bass, I never get bass any bigger than 2 to 3 LBS and I fish there a lot. Senkos rigged wacky-style has been my most successful lure, and I've had some success with 3" Gulp minnows in black & white on a 1/8 or 1/4 oz plain jighead.

Heavy stuff on my baitcaster never seems to yield much success there. Finesse definitely seems to do better than anything else, I've reeled in miles worth with lipless crankbaits and spinnerbaits there and I've never gotten a single bite with them.

LOL me too. Guess that's why I prefer bait, still not a slam dunk but you usually get some action...unless it's opening day

Bait seems to work best there but I've had days when I hit the rocks on the causeway and hooked into some quick action on senkos while people who had been there for awhile using bait never got a nibble.

I'm so glad that there is no official opening day at RVR, now that would be a scene!
