Inlet bluefish
Went fishing 🎣 in Manasquan Inlet again this evening after repairing my Ava and two teasers rig. Weather was sunny and warm with a light northeast wind and incoming tide. Inlet was very crowded again. Someone was fishing 🎣 in my spot so I went out further on the jetty away from everybody. Didn’t get a fluke hit on my repaired rig and new Ava A-17. More than halfway through my trip I hooked a big fish 🐟 that made a long run up the inlet with the current. After I finally stopped the run with the fish 🐠 near the intruder in my old spot, the big one got away near the rocks as I was reeling it in against the current. Then I caught, tagged and released a 25” bluefish on my brother John’s homemade black and white synthetic buck tail teaser. It was the 8,400th fish 🐟 that I tagged with American Littoral Society spaghetti tags since 1984. On my next cast my leader broke and I lost my second Ava in two days, then went home. I think that the bluefish bit my leader and severely weakened it. I need to check my leader after catching a bluefish. Looks like fluke don’t bite when big blues are around. Another fisherman said that whales and dolphins were jumping out of the ocean. 12 surfers were in the pocket. I took lots of photos.
