GAMBLER-- Striper Report
The Gambler was striper bass fishing the last couple days. There are some very big, and wise, bass around. They are not easy to catch. You have to work at it. Patience is a must.
If the fish are not biting, keep fishing. You don't know when they will turn on --and you'll want your line in the water when they do. The ones we've been catching are rarely less than 30 lbs. The stripers that we've caught on live bunker were free lined out with a 2 oz egg sinker. --If your fresh bunker dies, do not throw it away. Fresh dead is equally as good as live. When a bass picks up your bunker, let him run for a good 10-count before setting the hook. If she takes a lot of drag --let her run. Do not panic and try to stop the fish on its first run. We have caught almost as many stripers this season on big crocodile spoons as we have on fresh bunkers. It was slow today but we were thankful for the few that we caught. We lost a couple big ones that we should not have, due to crossed lines. Looks like rough weather for Friday. This weekend's forecast is good. We'll be fishing stripers every day Hope you can make it aboard
