Default Memorial Day 2018 - Fluke Report

Took my boy out for the first time yesterday for a few hours and to my surprise he landed his first fluke ever and a KEEPER!! We only stayed a few hours, the drift wasn't the best. I stayed away from all the boats, tried to fish shallow waters but drifts was fast and kept pushing us to shore. Either way, we landed a few fish (nothing to brag about) but managed 2 keepers.

Question... I want to start navigating up the Navesink river and was wondering if there was anything you can share as far as sandbars, places to stay away from etc. Not looking for your fishing holes, just looking for anything I should be aware of as far as navigating.

Thanks and as always keep those lines tight!

the navesink is tricky - you can get yourself grounded quickly. when i go up i pay close attention to my gps and depthfinder, as well as the channel markers of course. might wanna navigate at high tide for a while 'till you get a feel for how that channel snakes through.
