Thumbs down Re: Somerset Saltwater expo

Talked to my buddy, he said AOT of empty floor space. Wasn't impressed, said he wasted 12 bux to get in and $3.50 for a hot dog.

Let me tell you I fully support taking care of the Mom and Pop guys as I worked for one in NJ for a while. However, now that I manage one of the big box stores fishing and camping departments, I can say that it is very hard to compete with our sale prices.

Spros and Gulp at buy one get one for half, the Power Pro prices at 20% off and admission is free.

Our salesmen are not some smart ass kids, we have all worked in the industry for years.

Can't be Sports Authority or Dicks 'cause they are one giant rip off.

I've never been to the show & I might be coming from BKLYN tomorrow. Just curious to know if parking is free? It's already going to cost me enough in gas/tolls so I just need to make sure that there aren't any other surprises. Thanks!

Thumbs up Re: Somerset Saltwater expo

Spent to much money again but got some great goodies! Few jigs, plugs, lots of tackle, new cutters, new fillet knife, gulp, and new Rod and Reel..

Got a New Shimano TMS-F70H Teramar Inshore Southeast Spinning Rod... 7 foot, heavy power, medium fast action, 15-30#.. Love the fact that there is 8 guides.. Fuji reel seat.. Paired with a new Shimano 4000 Baitrunner.. Loaded it up with 40# Power Pro last night.. I am in love with this set up.. The rod is beautiful and a crazy color.. Seems to change color in the sun and has some great back bone.. And the medium fast action seems feels very like its going to feel great on the bite and hook set.. This is my first salt water Shimano rod and so far i am VERY happy! The reel feels great.. The baitrunner clicks on and off like butter and the drag feels great.. Holds a good amount of line.. I put on a few yards of backing then piled on 150 yards of 40# power pro.. Which is more then enough... I was going to get the 5000 but i like the feel of the smaller reel in my hand plus i dont do much surf fishing so it will be mostly used on the boat so the 4000 holds more then enough line for my needs.. Amazing prices as well.. Got the show price on both and it saved me a good amount of cash! Which is always good!

All and All it was a good show with lots of great deals and tons of fellow anglers to chat with...

Saw a few people who had fished with us last season! I hope to see you guys back this year!

I was looking to see what the name of the color of the rod is.. But cant seem to find the exact name.. Id say its super cool greenish/blue swirls on black color scheme..

She shines so beautiful in the sun! And is going to look even better when its bent in half with a monster Striped Bass on the other end of the line!!

Bass in Raritan Bay better watch out because i am coming for you!!

I stopped in at the show both Friday and Saturday. Looks like there was a great turnout. Saw a lot of familiar faces.

Spoke to a lot of vendors about getting them into Jersey Hooker Outfitters. We will be carrying Fiberstar Composites surf blanks, along with CTS and Century.
