I am new to the whole east coast scene and I was in your position a few months ago still kinds of now.

Early mornings I've been using the fluke on a 3/0 and its been working. Let it sink slow and twitch it, let it sink and twitch. I don't want to be the guy who says stick to basics but they work!

Go ultra light and get a feel for where you are fishing. Then you can work up from there.

Good Luck!

I am starting to think the fish are just not there. I have not even seen anyone catch a fish in any of the lakes i've been to, except the bucket brigade with half a dozen dead perch on a stringer, that they caught with live bait. I might be done. If I ever fish again, it will be back at my home reservoir, where there is none of this bullshit. I'll risk the ticket.
Later,
Enjoy your summer.

Sorry Ike

It appears our buddy has written off fishing .

forget everything you learned fishing swimming river, because theres not many other bodies of water like it in nj.

if you plan on going back and fishing there a ticket is the least of your worries. id worry more about getting put on a list and having all my gear confiscated and getting anally probed. some people might be into that kinda thing I guess.

Has anyone heard back from him?
I sent a fairly detailed PM with locations and tactics that have been very high percentage for me, and I don't think he has even viewed that PM.

Hey guys. Im still here and I appreciate all of your help. I just had to re-group and take a break. I don't think i could ever really quit fishing. Ive been fishing since i was 4. I am learning some new tecniques. I am going to try the drop shot. I bought some weights, and some Kietech swim baits. I usually use my old school Rapalas and Bagleys. I even have a couple of Poes lures I'll throw once in a while. I have a collection of newer Lucky Crafts, Jackall, Megabass, and a couple Magic Swimmers (a snapping turtle almost got away with one of them.) I'm always afraid to loose them. Im not going to worry about it any more. I'll be bringing my "A-Team" next time I go out. I signed up for Mystery Tackle box as well. They sent some shakey head jigs and some new types of worms ill have to try. Ive never done the shakey head thing. Ill have to watch some videos about it.

I would love to get a kayak, money is tight right now. Some day. I live in a tiny apt. so storage is an issue. I also dont have a car, just a motorcycle for now. I can strap my rod to the shock, throw some gear in a backpack, and get to the lakes.

Call me a tree hugger if you must, but I dont like to use live bait. I fish mainly for my enjoyment, and I dont think anything should have to die for my entertainment.

Im going to keep at it. Ill report back after the weekend and let you guys know how i did.
