Re: Striped catfish rule change?
one fish two fish, red fish, blue fish.... 125 plus tip and raw costs including food, fuel, ice, time, day off, misc bullshit, cheaper to go to the market... i do not personally give a shit what size you kill, i rather see 40inches and over, the 28" fish are the future, not the 50lb shit tasting cows that everyone holds up...

Re: Striped catfish rule change?
Exactly.... I see everywhere "let the breeders live!" (as in 25 lb fish +) but the fact is would humans be better if 20 year olds were scarce and we relied on 50 years old to repopulate? I understand it's not the exact same situation but it's similar and make sense. The cows only have so long to live anyways, let the 28 inch fish live as in a few years these fish turn into the cows and you get the prime breeder years...... Letting the cows live, and killing off the teens/young adults means a collapse in 4-7 years IMO.
As far as 1 fish goes, I mean, would I rather keep 2? Absolutely. But it'll be better for the fishery to keep 1 fish. As far as I'm concerned, I go out and pay my money to go fishing above all. I love the sport more then anything. If we could keep 0 or 100, it wouldn't change anything for me, I will still go out as much as I do because I'm in it to catch fish and be out there. Actually eating the fish is my last priority after everything, though I don't think everybody enjoys the sport as much as I do Last edited by Fisherman120; 10-30-2014 at 03:33 PM.. |

Striped bass have been weighed up to 125 lbs in the late 1800's. In recent times there has been a 90 plus caught in a net in chessie bay. World record is now 80 plus. With that being said not every bass is capable of reaching this size, but it is possible. A 50 lb. has always been the holy grail of bass fishing, but they get a heck of a lot bigger. Fish are much different then humans and most land animals..you can not think of them in the same terms. a 60 lb bass, 1,000 lb tuna etc, will still fight and f like a bastage. They continue to grow and breed until they die. Last edited by O'Connor; 11-01-2014 at 12:10 AM.. |
