Alot of the stores are now bringing in the cheap ava 47 style jigs from china and Korea and the hooks are real crap..seen this alot in the last few years..guys think they are getting good mustad hooks beacause they are silver looking --but these are cheap crap..stay with local makers who make sure you get the quality you pay for---we make a hammered ava jig with the right mustad hooks you will not bend these straight..
when you see a 4 oz jig--A-47 selling for $5.00 its Chinese and now korean junk--either that or the seller is an idiot
If you use the right size mustad hook it won't straighten out..I have never had a failure in 12 yrs of jig making..i also use VMC,Gamakatsu, and Owner to get a better hook.
Now if you fish a time or two and don't wash off the jig and just stick it back inbto your tackle bag/box the hook will rust and bend/break..if it's new it should never react that way
there are several stores stocking jigs that look like mine that have cheap chinese garbage hooks --Kills me when i try to sell one of my jigs and i hear oh these jigs suck because the hooks suck..When i didn't make the junk ...Sellers kill a whole line of products for the rest of us for a $.50 -$1.00 hook depending on whether it has tubing ot not

Sounds like a poor quality or defected hook. I've had this problem in the past and my solution is to buy the avas without hooks from your local US tackle shop. All you have to do is add the hook and tube color of your choice. Quality product and cheaper than most store bought crap.

Best of Luck,
Pete
