Eventually, while your cause is noble, you'll come to realize you will stand alone or damn near it. Back five years or so ago the regs shut us down two days before the Labor Day weekend. Well, did that cause quite an uproar. Everybody was spewing venom and ready to eat a mile of their shyte and then go out and do battle with the regulators. A protest was called for. The Atlantic Highlands harbor was supposed to be choked with private boaters and the party fleet to an extent were on board. As the protest day got closer the steam rapidly dissipated. Till, eventually, there wasn't even a rally let alone an on the water protest. It is one thing to talk tough, yet another to be tough. I don't know you, so I'd never question your bravery. Moreover, I would love to see just what would happen if this ever were held. Respectfully, I'll stay out of this one. I'm with Frugal, I'll protest and try not to get caught.

I have contributed money to several causes. Mind you, I'm far from wealthy. I attended meetings, far and near from my home on my dime and time. I wrote letter after letter, till my fingers bled. Yeah, I even agreed to participate in the Great Labor Day Uprising. All the while I believed that doing all these things would eventually make a difference. I'm saddened to report, in the end, it all went to shyte and flew out the window with the latest set of regs.

Hell, I'll help you get it together, if you need help. But, I'm going into stealth mode. I'll get my fish, without raping the resource. Sometimes a man's got to do what a man's got to do.

I wish you well. I just hope when you walk off the boat the day of your protest that you have others, make that many others with you. Most importantly make sure you don't get off the boat with only your (stick) in your hand.

GOOD LUCK!!
I greatly appreciate your response and recognize that it would be a beast of an endeavor. It would require the help of a lot of people, including someone to organize the Party boat and Charter boat contingents, Bait and tackle shops to post the effort and so on. It certainly would not be easy. but what`s the alternative.
At the end of the day, I am just one guy that`s very frustrated. I do not have all of the answers, but I would put in the time and effort. Big things start small, either it snowballs or dies here. All we need is the right people to step up and commit.

Constructively how would you bring attention to the problem and how much time are you willing to donate to a cause that you enjoy. It`s easy to sit back and comment, but will you walk the talk like I will or leave it at that and just make negative remarks."

Sorry if a little reality upsets You. Go ahead with this brilliant plan and prove Me wrong. I don't have all the answers but I can tell You this won't acomplish a thing and I believe You'll be standing alone on judgement day.
People break laws every day. They don't get changed because of it. Think!!

Bowhunter, I am NOT upset with you at all. Far from it! Just wish that you had a positive option rather than just bringing more negativity to the table. Everybody is entitled to their opinion.
It`s funny because today everybody is so concerned about security, post terrorist attacks, but at the end of the day most people who are concerned would cry if their rights were infringed upon in order to provide a secure place. Same here, people cry and complain, but yet the thought of something that could affect them personally in a negative way stops them dead in their tracks.

Bowhunter I will break it down for you real simple. Basically people whine and complain that they want change, but not at the thought of any expense to them. Referring to what it`s all about, your not happy with the regs, but yet you will do nothing but complain and criticize rather than placing your ability to bow hunt or freshwater fish in jeopardy. Got it good. Have a good night!

Just because I want change doesn't mean I have to endorse a clearly ridiculous proposal. I never said I would do nothing.I said if its this,(or this type of thinking) or nothing We are doomed. Why would I place My hunting license in jeopordy for something that wouldn't make a bit of difference.

People break laws every day,do We change the laws to accomodate the violators? Never seen it once! If I am wrong do it and prove it! When do You have in mind, and where will You be with Your short fish?

I agree. This will be the second "rebellion" that will fall flat on its face. You guys that want to keep short fluke should keep your mouths shut on here and do what you're gonna do. Do you idiots think that we're the only ones who read these forums? I hope that those short fluke really make you feel better at the end of the day.
