Definitely grab an Avet, one of my go to reels for fluking in the deep. (on a Seeker BA-270...love that stick)

Another reel I use comparable to the SX is the Daiwa BG20. Another great example of an open top reel that's top notch.

Just make sure you clean the Avet regularly. Light water spray and an oil rub after a day of fishing, with regular lubes and a once a year internal cleaning will keep it working like new for years.

Neglect is the cancer to all reels.

Tight lines.

I own 1 of the sx mc's and one without it. The magic-cast really isnt anything special. i find that the one that isnt magnetic casts just as far without me bird's nesting it, for around 50 bucks less. I love my avets they wont let you down if used properly! Happy fishing

This is my first day of posting on here too and I thought I would share a little tip for you. When you are using braid and trying to evenly spool the reel with your thumb, make sure you have tape around your finger or wear gloves. That stuff will cut you up like a really bad paper cut and believe you me, saltwater in that cut is no picnic.

Broke with-in two years?? Either that's pure abuse(like your dropped them in saltwater and left them there for 2 weeks) or a lie.

I still have an original Avet. That run of Avets had bearing problems. Which were fixed(free) and still working 100% today. I do NOT take care of my tackle after every trip. I abuse them, I admit that. I have to have them serviced because of my own neglect and they come back 100% all the time(plug for Reel Seat )

You can say you don't like them(as you said, preference) but to say they broke is complete BS.

All my set ups are Avet reels, never had a problem with them and fished all kind of species. Like NJBoarder, said please let us know why there a waste of money? I'm curious myself.
