Those are very odd markings for a pure bred pike!.. Looks to me like a Pike/Pickerel hybrid.. they are not an everyday catch, but are pretty common where both species co exist.. Pike spots are generally much more uniform.. that fish you are holding looks like a world record monster pickerel, with some pike like markings mixed in.. I could be wrong of course, but I say its a hybrid.. They get quite large... Here are some pictures of pure strain pike from Pa just to compare.. bob

I have seen a couple pics this year of pike with that chain pattern. Do the pike reproduce in our waters? Obviously the pickerel do so it could be a female pickerel and a male pike? Thoughts

Champlain has them but they look more like pickerel with pike spotting

There have been reports of baby pike in the Passaic and what appear to be pickerel/pike hybrids.
