Re: Tsunami SaltX reels
They're ok reels. Van staal look but nowhere near van staal quality. I use a 6000 size with a tuna popping rod to haul grouper off the skyway pier in tampa.
I used a gen 1 4000 sized striper fishing a few years back and it was cooked after about 15 fish. It was back bay, not oceanside so it wasn't getting sandy, etc. It was literally smoked lol.

When you say”cooked” what is meant by that?

Re: Tsunami SaltX reels
It sounded like a coffee grinder and the handle wouldn't turn. The guts of the reel were toast. Metal shavings galore when it was opened up.
I should state that I was given the reels at no cost. The gen 2s on grouper worked ok. I plan to use a 6000 this summer to put it thru the throes of tuna popping. They hold a ton of #50 braid like max quattro
