The Conquest is a bit of overkill for what you want to do. The Calcutta B series is less expensive for drop and reel fishing. You can save yourself some $$$$ in the process and put it toward a matching rod. Size matters, so match the reel to the rod........the Calcutta 100B is fine for lighter line but if you match it to a heavier rod, you should go to the 200B but definitely no bigger. Do yourself a favor and go to a store to actually feel the reel. Buying online doesn't save you a thing if you have to waste the energy having to return the reel for a different size. Most of the better reels in the stores are priced competitively with online prices.

Yes sir, and I would say you also what to put your reel of choice on a rod to see how they balance with one and other. This is especially true when your talking lighter weight set ups.
