Lake Assunpink -Sunny Day Sunfish 5/25
I left the AlumaCraft on the trailer at home and put the Old Towne canoe onto the car roof top. It was nice to see many people out enjoying the sunny day at the Assunpink WMA. The ramp-talk sounded like the bass fishermen did OK, however, my target fish were crappies.
I opted to to go ultra-lite and throw the 1/32 jighead with the Mister Twister curly tails. The wind kicked up at times making it a bit difficult to paddle and fish the spots I wanted to cover. The water was also a bit brown and stained. I did not hook any crappies, but caught some yellow perch and sunfish. Ounce for ounce, sunfish put up a nice fight on the ultra-lite tackle. A nice day out and the shoulder muscles are feeling the paddle time burn.
