Re: giant walleye at the cong
here come those "comments" we need to stop.please be supportive of the
angler who catches a great fish like Don has.the fish was weighed in at a shop that has been weighing fish for peeps and contests for decades.the cong has bigger than that i'm sure. |

Re: giant walleye at the cong
Too many things influence what a fish looks like in a picture not to mention the relationship between size and weight of the fish in general. We've all seen heavier shorter fish and fish that were long but lean. This time of year if the fish isn't spawned out it could add a few pounds in weigh or maybe it just ate a big meal. I know a guy whose 5'7" and weighs 275 lbs, length to weight standards are not always applicable. In this case angler put in the time, obviously knows what he's doing which resulted in a true trophy. And as mentioned, the fish was weighed on a certified scale.
Congratulations are in order for his trophy, a catch I'd certainly like to experience one of these sleepless nights! Last edited by dakota560; 05-10-2019 at 03:15 PM.. |

Re: giant walleye at the cong
I took the pictures and yes Don is a big guy. I tried to capture the girth but walleye have a unique shape. The back on this girl was dragon like wide with a huge dorsal fin. Easily 2 inches each side of the fin. The depth of this one was amazing too. A short heavy fish for sure. There may be bigger ones out there so give it a try.
