![]() Took my Dad out on the lake a few times this summer and early fall and did fairly well with the help of a few members on this board. Thanks!
What is your favorite time to jig or cast for the Lakers? What month and depth do you look for them generally? Thanks for the help as always! |

![]() Live line herring (if you can get them) in May and June. The place is infested with Lake Trout.

![]() I only fish MC in the spring. Check your fish finder and target that depth. It can be anywhere from 20-120ft, but I think the sweet spot is 60-70ft. The later in the spring, the deeper they are. I typically troll but if they're thick under the boat I'll stop on them and jig an AVA17. From my experience, the bite dies off in the afternoon but they hit well all morning. And try to stay on the ledges.

![]() Do you fish the herring on the bottom or just free line them? What is the typical depth you find them in that early?

![]() Anchor up in anywhere from 40 to 60 FOW in the spring, you will have all the lake trout you want tossing out herring with no weights and an open bail.
Just let the herring swim around, the fish will find them. |
