![]() Put together an All-Star crew of miscreants, re-threads, wanna-bes, used-to-bes, Korean ninjas, sidewinder missiles, mind masters, tog-o-philes, and of course, GDUBS, for the kick-off JJ season trip on the Monger. (Rubberband Pete, Bradley Cooper, and the Twins all were busy elsewhere so had to grab some Tog snipers from the talent pool to fill the boat up...thanks GUYS!!!!!)
Got the call last night from Capt. Ahab that we would NOT be fishing for golden tiles, spinner dolphins, zebra fish, lobsters, stone crabs, or mermaids as originally planned, and would be settling for tog and cod. (BOREDOM with capital letters, but Ahab is Ahab, and its his tugboat, so off we went in search of bottom dwellers ) Left the dock at 0-God-awful-hundred hours this morning and headed to the deep South, so far South in fact that we were in danger of pulling into a casino to play in the morning poker tournament at the Borgata. OK. Not that far South. But GDUBS thought the casino pier was Harrahs so I let him believe that. Anyways, Got set up on first spot: all the miniature togs a person could ask for. Little Tog nibblets...teeny togs...BUTT, GDUBs and I did manage to each catch a lobster on tog bait. Have no clue how, but it must be from all the years we both spent watching Deadliest Catch. I now call him Sig, which he prefers to Sally. Anyways, nabbed 2-3 keepers but it just wasnt the bite that Capt. Quigley wanted, and he only had 4 packs of Luckys with him today, so we knew he would be running and gunning until we filled the coffers with major Tog coinage. BTW...all species of crustaceans and fish that were out of season today were released to swim another day......thats my legal disclaimer so please refrain from complaining if you dont see me mention we released things....I do forget things. Like how to catch fish on occasion.....) Moved to spot number 2 and, well, fellow Mongerheads, it was bing-bang-boom and the buffet began....we caught togs of all sizes and shapes, including a ten-pounder by sidewinder, and a couple keepers for yours truly...we also started catching: cod congers knucklehead sea bass BIG ocean flounder skates stone crabs I mean.....when you add in the shrimp we were using for bait, and all the fresh clams....it was like being at the RIO seafood buffet in Vegas!!!! (ONLY much closer) Kimchee Steve, otherwise known as the Ninja, put on another one of his displays of fishing manliness by amassing a stunning count of C&R fish. We bounced around from rock pile to rock pile whenever it slowed down, and somewhere in all of that mayhem, Mr. G-to-the-DUBS managed a 12 pound togzilla, and we limited out (or might have been 1 short...I dunno...its late and my math is off), plus adding in a couple gorgeous cod, and a big-ass flounder. (Rumor has it Capt. Kirk found the flat ones in numbers the other day but you'll have to ask him) So...to sum it up, we all had a blast with Capt. Picard and the Monger crew....Nate and Trevor did a great job of running the cockpit and keeping the action solid...it was cock-o-la weather but the ocean laid down to a whisper by noon and my new Xmas-gift StormR gear kept me dry and warm....Evans brownies were legal this time as we had members of the FDA on the boat...clams seemed to slightly out-fish crabs but, I'd say it was 50-50....and of course, no baby seals or finback whales were harmed in the making of this charter. Until next time, Monger Nation!!!!! Tight Lines!!!! JJ |

![]() Kimchee Steve, the korean ninja? What about "the asian sensation" or the "korean kid"?
Always a blast on the monger with good company. Seemed like the clam bite was better in the am and crab in the afternoon. Congrats to my boy g-dubs on his new personal best. And I hope you enjoyed your tasty treat ![]()

![]() I want to thank my boy Capt JJ for inviting me back or at least they tell me I am there friend but that is debatable , I am a body that usually shows up on time with cash ??? and I think I provide some entertainment.value/distraction when the fishing is slow. JJ was a little tired but fished hard all day and put a few in the cooler, Great job Joe and way to stick it out. It was a great day for my boy ALS MAko - who outfished me like WOW on fire and yes I keep score ( you crushed me and well deserved and very proud of yah and yes I owe you - West Coast big time for that show.), Always a great time fishing next to my sensai and busting chops all day long. I fished next to him who fished next to Pete and they caught fish like nobodies business and was an awesome sight. I caught enough shorts but not to many keepers but today I got the right one again. Now in Capt. JJ's defense the scale was bouncing between 11-12 lbs and you were on the other side of the boat. It was an 11 lb male that was spent and wouldn't make it so he was kept. I have to thank Jerry for helping me catch my PB's this year an 10.5 and now my 11lber - Thank you Capt. - I hope our crew made you proud and I will always take your advice- Great seeing Evan and the rest of the crew and thank you everyone for filling in our trip , ( Hey Rodger can you name that tune ? and there is plenty of room to fish
![]() ![]() It was a really good day Thank you JJ and crew for putting up with me and screaming like a little beeaattch after catching that fish Be Well - Be Safe and Fish-On GDubs- ![]()

![]() Nice job boys. JJ great read as always
Steve ALS no surprise always consistent. Congrats George!!. Way to go brother. Question: I know no mammals, fish or crustaceans were harmed but how many fishermen were injured on your typical break every other rod tip and take an eye out high hook set! And the final swing into the boat ![]() OR someone finally told what the meshy thing on the end of a metal pole was for and you actually let them net a fish! Glad you guys got a good trip
