Who makes the best custom rods

I'm probably gonna get slapped for mentioning a non-sponsor, but give Jim Grandt of Grandt rods a call... he can make anything custom you can think of and the quality is incredible... I have many of his rods and absolutely love them... even more than my high end St. Croix's.

Why would a Jersey fishermen get a rod from somebody in Illinois? Doesn't make sense to get a rod from someone who doesn't fish local or similar waters regardless of sponsorship.

Garone has excellent work and an excellent reputation, I would second that recommendation.

Jersey... Illinois... who cares... he asked for recommendations on where to find the best and in my opinion and experience, it's Jim Grandt. You don't need to put other builders down in order to express your own preference.

Garones rods are beautiful. What I look for is a builder that builds the rod I want on the blank I want and not be steered in a direction I am not familiar with and don't want. His work speaks for itself!!

Where did I put down his work? Don't care how nice or how junky it may be, fact is if you're gonna get a custom rod then it should be from someone who knows the fishery firsthand. Illinois is really far from Jersey.

Tough question to answer as everyone has there own opinions. It is like asking what is the perfect Blackfish Rod. There is no really right answer as everyone has their own preference and style of fishing

As for custom Rod builders we have some of the best guys right here in our backyard in NJ and NY

If you are leaning toward Garone,you can't go wrong. Bogan is also a great product. Mike has rods he sells on his facebook page often. They are used and only certain makes, but if your not in a rush you may come across something you want at half price.
