![]() if you have any interest at all in catch and release online fishing contests check this out:
http://onlinefishingtournament.com/f...ament-idea#242 I came up with it as a proposed idea so that anglers all over the country could compete against each other targeting different species of their choice. Let me know what you think.

![]() Chris,
That's an interesting concept especially mixing together fresh and saltwater fish. That being said I would work with percentages in order to give some species and some anglers a fair chance. Striped Bass at 95% in my opinion is a bit to high and should be lowered. While walleye at 75% is a bit to low and should be higher. Those two suggestions just came to mind while looking at species list. Overall I do like the idea of putting salt against fresh for some friendly competition and some bragging rights. Also my understanding is that competition open to everyone and everywhere. Some species might not be available to others to target and should be taken into consideration as well. Andre |

![]() I know it seems confusing but when ur have Canadians vs. Florida vs. northeast etc. you can't just straight up have a largemouth bass contest or pike because certain regions would be at a massive advantage. Each species with a percentage would just even out the lengths a bit. So for whatever species you caught, you'd just look at a table and multiply the length by the percentage associated with it.
As far as some of the percentages seemingly being off...I tend to agree but I made the rough draft of percentages by looking at places where certain species grow to their longest size. I also used the in-fisherman master angler sizes as a baseline. So apparently 30-31" walleye are not that uncommon up north so I based it on that to even it out. As for stripers it was hard to find consistent information as far as average sizes. I appreciate the input! If you're interested in competing at all in something like this or in any of the other contests, you can sign up to the www.onlinefishingtournament.com forum and put your 2 cents in there as well.

![]() Very interesting idea to say the least....
Good luck to you with angler interest.. ![]() and pls preach proper fish handleing before and throughout this contest... I can just see guys keeping fish outta the water five minutes longer than they normally would for their hero shots, just to get a good pic with a good look at the numbers....If proper handeling of any and ALL species waz somehow made mandatory (impossible , i think ) , than this would be the best rooster measuring idea i ever heard of.... ![]() If the percentage thing can be made exactly accurate per region of the world and or the country this thing could really take off !!!

![]() well like you said it'd be pretty hard to make proper handling mandatory, but pictures where the fish is clearly discolored, dead, or otherwise obviously visually mishandled should be disqualified...but think about this, it's much better than a keep and weigh in contest as far as fish safety!
proper handling falls on each individual angler and needs to be a personal goal. mandatory bumper boards is already a rule (it makes it much quicker and easier to get a pic and put the fish back). I think they even have some videos up on how to measure the fish quick on a bump board.

![]() I made up a rough draft of what this contest might end up looking like. I only included rules specific to this type of contest (not listed are rules for all the online contests such as proper handling of fish, etc.)
