Default Ling n Flounder-Roulette Style

Had an opportunity yesterday to go out bottom fishing. Weather forecast was looking real good. Climbed aboard the Russian Roulette with Capt. Denis and mate Stephen. Plenty of room aboard as there was only myself, Tony cav and two other friends of Capt. Denis. Took a seat inside while Denis powered the custom Michael Fitz. Made it offshore in no time at all.
After dropping anchor and getting the go ahead, "let em' go" signal, few seconds later I began to fell that all to well known bite. I will say it was a strange kind of Ling bite. Not the usual constant tugging at he line. I think I dropped more Ling yesterday, than I have all year. After figuring out what kind of bite you had to wait for, myself and the others began to fill the cooler. Tony right off the bat pulled up a flounder, smaller than what I've been seeing thus far this season, but a keeper no doubt. Wasn't long afterwards when I saw his rod doubled over and up comes a nice Cod. We were tossing Ling in the cooler on a steady basis, Capt. Denis made several nudges to keep us over the fish. Bergals were a little PITA for a while until Capt. says, wind up. Made a move to another area, and picked up right where we left off. By about mid day, after having a nice cooler packed with Ling and a couple Cod and a Pollack, we decided to head off to another area, an area where I was real excited to go to since I knew we wanted to get some Flounder.
So, settled up inside for a quick bite to eat, quick drink and a little shut eye. Awoke to the twin diesels powering down, grabbed my rod, changed the rig, dropped down and bang. Couldn't been more than 30 seconds or so. Got that bite that I knew could only be one thing, the fish I been enjoying catching for the last 2 months or son. Set the hook and there he was, beautiful 19-1/2" winter flounder. Didn't take to long to get dialed in on the rest of them. I managed a keeper Cod on my bucktailing rod, which was a real nice fight. Short time later, after limiting the boat on these beautiful flatties, we decided to call it a day. Was a beautiful day out on the water, some real good laughs, especially with the very unique fishing style of one of the guest. I don't think he ever took his rod out of the holder(dropping down bait and winding up fish). Very unique as Capt. Denis made statement that he has performed in the olympics. Mate Stephen on his game as usual. Great boat and crew,
Tight Lines........

Fished with Capt. Denis for codfish. Both times, luckily, it was lock and load. Found him to be a serious top notch captain who's all business and a gentleman. He has good numbers and works hard all day. He doesn't mind travelling for fish. The boat is roomy, comfortable and has a good cruising speed. One of the better off-shore fisherman in the area. That's why he gets booked up so fast everytime he post a new trip.
