Summer eyes on flies!

dog days of summer, what a myth! The fishing in nj is as good as ever in the summer! Get out there and enjoy!

Got a tip from mike and Headed out with my buddy arty. Fly jigging smacked up some nice fish again on the big pond, including some smallies and, to our surprise, eyes 10-15 ft over 20-30' depths. They enjoyed gobbling up the silver surfer and bam bam flies until they shut off for us completely around noon.

Pictures are 16.5" smallie, eye with a mouthful of silver surfer fly, 19.75" eye, and the big fish of the day arty's 23.75" eye.

Chris and friend! Nice looking mixed bag dudes! Those homemade flies are absolutely amazing. I know you and the unnamed angler do very well with them sometimes. Way to think outside the box and get some fish in the boat.

nice job guys, way to get em! the eyes hang w the hybrids suspended over the last drop all summer long chasing herring, you would never think it up there. Looks like you guys got out early and avoided the yahoos while they slept and had breakfast haha......

Chris I am glad the info helped I hit the same place for a couple of hrs on friday and did real well also. They are in their late summer pattern for sure.
