Local Spot and Assunpink weekend

Saturday,

Did not want to drive to far from the house so decided to pay some wvisit to the local hole.

As always way to much pickerel. Water was crystal clear so you can actually see them hiding in the weeds and pretty much see all the action. How they move to attack, quick strike and then aerial show. Didn't count them just had a blast catching and setting them loose. Pretty sure I caught a few more than once but great day. Highlight of the day was seeing a fox come down and hang out with me for a bit.

Also a bass protecting his nest. It was awesome. He would not let anyone come near it. Scaring all the sunnies and pickerel away from the bait and not even bothering to take it himself. One pickerel decided that bass had to go but quickly saw that there is no way she could gulp him down so left him alone.


Sunday

Decided to head over to Assunpink since according to my friends bite was too hot to miss. Apparently they were right. Fished right of the boat ramp and was making a short order of everything that came my way. Crappies, white perch, yellow perch, sunnies and bass all were caught pretty much as soon s the bait went in a water.

And then a bass tournament so had to vacate the spot for the boats to get in the water.

In about an hour and half had about 20 crappies, 10 white perch, 5 largemouth bass, 1 yellow perch and 10 sunnies.

Kept a few crappies and perch, rest were released to enjoy the beautiful weekend.

Sorry no fish porn. Nothing to big to brag about, only the numbers caught were impressive.

Yeah, Hooked Bassmasters had one going.

Don't worry they having another one on Saturday at Hopatcong.

You know since its perfect time for bass.
