I use an 8' 6" Cabelas pro guide for Fluke and Stripers off the the surf. It's teamed with a Shimano Saros reel. I like the light weight action when it comes to the Fluke. I can launch up to 3 ounces of lead with this set up. It's just right for bouncing bucktails or dragging bait along the bottom. I also have a 7 ft St Croix with another Saros reel on it, not the cheapest combo but it gets the job done. The Cabelas rod is probably around 55 bucks these days. The St Croix can be found for 100 bucks or less. Good luck out there!!!
