Inshore, FRESH clam, tipped on top of a 4" swimming mullet gulp. Basic High-Lo Rig with 2/0 or 3/0 hooks.
If you have fished for blackfish at all, wait for a similar style bite. Ignore the little taps and pecks, swing when your rod started thumping. Don't over complicate sea bass.

Squid or Clams is all you need. Smaller diamond jigs with treval hooks and little flat sided butterfly jigs work well when the fish are abundant.
