Default Top water Tuesday

Hit the lake this morning and tried the usual spinnerbaits and jerk baits with no success. Water was still a bit stained from the rains so took a shot at the buzzbait to try and make a little noise and a couple casts later pulled in a 17 inch bass. Managed 3 more in the 12-14 inch range and a little yellow perch on a shiner. All fish were caught in or around weed beds and shoreline.

I know people have some decent luck on buzzbaits, but I don't think I've ever caught a fish on one. And because of that, the lure usually just sits in my tackle box unused. I might have to give it a try again the next time I'm hitting top-water.

Nice catch! I fished the passaic river today in hopes of a catch from 6pm to 8pm(a little windy with a strong current); threw some spinnerbaits, jerkbaits and a few topwaters. I managed to get one nice big bite off on a white buzzbait with a trailor hook. Something slapped my buzzbait maybe 20ft from shore and pulled down; i thought i had the hook set but the beast just spit it out!! Oh i was so mad but excited for the most part haha

I know the feeling. It's a lot of fun seeing the bite happen but equally frustrating seeing a near miss. I get the same way fishing senko worms. If I feel a clear bite and miss it I get pretty frustrated. With most other lures I think maybe it was the bottom or a stick or weed.

Same here. Never caught a fish on a buzzbait. Believe me I've tried. When I go topwater it's usually a popper (I like the Rapala Skitterpop), traditional Rapala, Jitterbug, Rebel FrogR, Heddon Torpedo or Zara Spook. They all work pretty well for me.
