Chesapeake Lodge in Islamorada is a great mid priced option. Not as swanky as Cheeka but clean, nice dock, pool and hot tub for the family, right in the middle of the action with lots of dining options

Second for hawks cay in duck key- get a villa- right on the channel, you can fish right outside of your patio 24-7- bar,restaurants,marina,tackle all within walking distance: by far most fun for me, you can rent a 21 cc and head out 15 mi or less for mahi tuna and such, or just do a charter, it's all there
