![]() I am just curious as to what kind of bass lure "bass masters" have been using if you are fishing from the shore lately (early summer & summer pattern). spinner? top water? football jig? crank? wacky? I presume top water for early morning/late evening and football jig during the day?

While a football jig will work in the summer it's not the best. It's a craw imitator and that's just not what the bass are eating until the fall when they all come back out of the mud. Like you said top water is my choice until the sun is up in the sky then I'll move to a senko or a crank bait if I want to fish a little deeper. |

![]() f yo arefishing water with a healty crayfish population, the fish, especiallythe larger fish will feed on them almost yr round...With the exception of during the spawn when they will hit them in order to protect the nest....It ismy #1 large fish lure y round for green and brownies....The only timei use other offerings is when the fish are in a super agressive chasing mood or in lw lite conditions...

![]() .
There are so many variables, it's hard to say any one is the best. I'm not a bass expert. Far from it. i just go out there with a variety of lures and discover by trial-and-error what the fish want. Earlier this spring, I was shore-fishing a small farm pond assuming a Texas-rigged plastic worm would be the best lure, only to find all the shallow bass completely ignored the lure. I tied on a small Rapala floater and the bass went completely crazy. They chased the lure down and smashed it every time. Bergen Angler, the most important thing is that you wear your dot gloves. That is your bass catching weapon! Here's a pic from that day: ![]()

![]() Been catching bass in real deep water using heavy metal blade and heavy metal casting spoon. I am not sure how to get rid of awful stench of the dot gloves from all the bass I have caught during spring. I personally think that metal blades and metal spoons are the least appreciated lures recently. They work great in summer and also in winter in deep water.
