Default Re: Making the fluid bed

Fluid bed
I recently built 2 fluid beds. First one I made from threaded 3” pvc fittings that worked out pretty good. You can add to the cup too make it deeper if needed. Dipping 6 oz ultra minnow heads need a lot of powder to cover the head. The second one was just a simple 3” coupling and 3” pipe (Home Depot) about $10. or so for both set ups.. Both base couplings I glued to a board. I bought a 2 outlet aquarium air pump (local pet store) rated for 70 gals ($20. on sale) a bag of plastic fittings with 4 or 5 valves and Y connectors ($5). I drilled appropriate size holes near the bottom of the female couplings for 2 air inputs and glued them to small boards after I installed the valves. I also did some testing with filter materials and found the brown lunch bags worked best for me, nice even bubbling. The air I can regulate at the pump or at the fluid bed using the little plastic valves. Hope this helps. Good luck!
Dave
