This was a great off shore season, I can't believe that amount of fish stacked up out there on some wrecks. I had fish hit the bait 70 feet from the bottom a few times and saw pics of the fish finder with fish from the bottom up to 100'

Some guys on our Big J trip were purposely dropping their baits slow so as to hook fish that were, like you said, stacked up to 70' off the bottom.

I was free spooling till about 20-30 ft from the bottom then slowing it to a steady fall. I got a lot of bigger fish this way.
