Default Stripers on the Horizon

Well Stripers are just around the corner and we are really spoiled with Stripers here in NJ… There is no better place in the world to fish for them PERIOD.

The past few years it seems like we start fishing earlier every year and with this mild winter, I think we get another early start. As soon as you see the yellow flowers on the Forsythia's, it’s game time and this rings true every year for the Raritan Bay fishery.

First part of the season usually starts gets going from shore and by boat in the back Bay Area March and April and then it blows wide open in May and moves more towards the ocean side in June.

If you’re into Stripers, you know it’s time to get your gear in order and put some days aside to get after it.

If you’re new to Striper fishing, this is going to be your best opportunity to get in on the action.

Fishing from shore your best bet is going to be the back bay shores soaking soft baits like Clams or Worms. An hour before or after high tide is usually best, just cast out and let them sit.

Fishing from a boat is totally different as it’s mostly a trolling game early and it later switches to live bait drifting live and cut Bunker.

Make sure to stay tuned here to see what’s happening as the season kicks off and when our sponsor boats start reporting and when they have openings.

Any day now and you don't want to miss it !
