Sticking with the Trout lately! RVTA contest! 2/12

Hiked the Brown Trout waters again with Skunk and Barry last week. Fish were super lethargic after the cold front but we found a few and spooked many. As soon as they saw your shadow they high tailed it under a rock or root system.




Fished the RVTA contest yesterday and today. Great turn out for the club as they has a lot of entries and made some money for the next Trout stocking. Trolled all morning yesterday but only went 1 for 4 with 1 small Laker to show. Switched gears to my old school ways and anchored up on the Laker highway. Sent 3 rods down with shiners and it was game on. Landed 8 good ones on bait and jigged up 2 on the simplest jig ever made. The biggest one came on the jig but didn’t have anything in its belly. Spawned out female I assume. All fish caught between 1:45 and 3:30. The switch turned off big time.




Tried again today looking for big Trout but came up empty. The entire fleet hit it so hard yesterday that we all got skunked. Crazy crazy! What a difference a day makes. The winning fish was a 5.28 Lb. Rainbow. Absolute beauty from the pictures I saw. Good weekend on the water. TIGHT LINEZ!!!
