Default Barnegat Bay Saturday Stripers

Got out on the boat with a friend pre-dawn. We started fishing on the west side but it was slow. At first light I saw birds working out in the intercoastal. We ran out there and started catching and I saw scattered flocks of birds working to the east as far as the eye could see. We made one long drift and caught nonstop even when the gulls weren't near us on mostly 20 to 25 inch fish with a couple pushing 28 to 30. The action covered a huge area and I can't recall ever seeing so many bass in the bay. Most came on the xrap and shads tried a popper but it wasn't as effective. The bite ended by 8 am and we never figured out what type of bait they were on.
