Andover Ice Fishing Report (it ain't over)
Overnight temps in the teens made it for safe ice. A solid 7 to 10 inches. 4 to 5 of black...rest white. Brutally cold at 7am. High teens to mid 20s with all day wind gust of 12 to 15mph. The wind made it almost impossible to keep the rods on the holders without tipping over. The pressure didnt play nice either. Slowly rising all day then eventually leveling off. 1st fish was a bass around 1030am. Next two bites came within minutes of each other at 1130. Two fatty perch! We treated ourselves to breakfast at that point with bacon egg n cheese sandwiches. We moved and swiss cheesed this pond 5 x and could never really find the fish. A few marks but nothing willing to play. We called it at 530pm....but threw a last min jigging hail Mary. My buddy jigged a bluegill. That ended a full sun up to sundown day on the hard water. I believe the ice will remain safe till this weekend.... but spud spud spud and be careful.
