Default after the snow ice report

I hit the big pond today and the ice is in good condition there is about 5" of slush on top of the 6" of ice that i was on before the storm. I had a hell of a time drilling holes with the water and snow on top of the ice when that stuff freezes we are going to be drilling through 10" of ice... 5 to 6 inches of black ice and the rest will be about 5" of frozen slush so if you go were you do not know what was there before the storm you should use a spud to check the condition of the ice we are going to get some cold weather next week so we should be good to go. I got my first largemouth bass of the season on a jig and also got three crappies ,21 sunnies, 1 slime dart, and 1 perch that was 9". I still am getting them with a jig and meal worm but the bass hit a size w4 jiggin rap, they are still close to the bottom just above the weeds. I hope to start using tip ups next week but for now i am traveling light with just jig rods auger/spud bar and my fl-20 to keep things on the light side for now.
