Low Water Trout Streams
With the trout season rapidly approaching, it's worth noting that while the streams are in great shape, the water levels are flowing more like late May or early June. The black stoneflies are flitting around and the water is gin clear. Holdover fall stockers are still being caught and will be available when things get started next month. However, without an appreciable amount of rain, fishing on opening day will be less than sporting.
We've been through this before and we'll survive. It would just be better if we had more water in the streams. With no snow melt or saturated soil strata, be prepared for lower than normal stream levels throughout the spring.
