Default keyport seahawk - acres of striped bass + PB TOG!

Headed out to prospect some spots for blackfish sunday. Ended up running into a pretty good mess of bird action and quite a few schools of 23-30" stripers popping up and down all over. We were getting them blasting all over the surface and it was tons of fun on lighter gear. We kept bouncing around hoping to find a school with some nicer fish in them, but every one we fished seemed to be the same.

Eventually we moved on and anchored up for some tog. We built up some life in the first spot but dealt with some dogs too. After a bit the tide changed and swung us off and we stopped getting the tog.

We pulled up and made a little move and got on a spot that was free of dirty dogs and we started hitting up the tog pretty good. We didn't have too many crab with us considering we wanted to save most of them at the dock for next weekend and we were just prospecting a bit.

I tried some new techniques and setups and ended up having to cut back my leader a few times due to dogs, blues, and the reef and at one point should've put a longer one back on and lost a nice fish from the reef cutting the braid (learn from my mistakes and don't let your fluoro leader get too short )

The bite keep going and I composed myself after that F*up. we started fishing with the legs and scraps of the crabs at this point cause they were still biting haha. I bumped my leader up from 30 to 50 and put a nice long fresh piece on then took my homemade jig and scrounged up a claw elbow joint and threaded it on there... didn't really expect a big tank tog to slam it!!

All i remember thinking is... I just repaired this reel, i hope it doesn't explode...and I hope my jig doesn't break cause i just tried a new, modified, way to make them that i was testing. Everything held up and i busted my PB tog with a nice 24" preseason tank white chinner!

After we ran out of even scraps to fish with, we headed back and as icing on the cake, even MORE acres of stripers everywhere 3 times as much as the morning!! Had to clean the boat in the dark and got home super late, but neither of us have the mental fortitude to drive past that, so hopefully we never have to be anywhere that important when it happens hahaha.
