Talking Small Flathead, BIG appetite! 9/19

Had a very rare half day of work last Thursday. Headed west to the Musky to catch bait and do some catfishing. There were Rainbow Trout in almost every hole I checked. 1 hole held about 25 or so Bows. I stayed there caught my bait and smacked the crap out of those feisty Trout. A couple of em’ took a ride with me to the big river. Haha! Got a few small Flatheads in the 4-5 lb. range. One of them was so hungry that it devoured a 9 inch Rainbow. Amazing what these invasive species can fit in there mouth!

Also on this day I hooked, almost landed and then proceeded to lose the biggest Musky in my life. Would’ve been a PB for me. I had her by the tail but she didn’t like that very much. So she took off running and while I was trying to turn her for the 3rd time to get her in she did a head shake and snapped the 8lb. test leader on my ultra lite Walleye rod. Nothing I could do unfortunately. Why must these big, allegedly smart fish have to eat small Keitech’s meant for other fish!?!?!?!? DAMMIT!!! TIGHT LINEZ!!!
