Had the day off due to weather...so decided to hit my favorite river. Wanted to explore more and hit a few spots that were closed off during the winter. Being shore bound access is always an issue. Well, I'm always looking for walleye but whatever bites I'm happy. First spot throwing swim shad. I get a hit and the fish is staying down. Thinking pb walleye but as it rolled near the surface I could see it was a muskie. Fought the fish for a good 5 min. Luckily the shad was hooked just at the edge of his mouth and was able to land him. Taped out at 36" and very chunky. Woohoo. Fished the area some more and hooked up with a nother muskie. Little smaller than the first but unfortunately this fish had the whole shad in his mouth and the line parted after a minute or 2. Fished some more but no other takers. On to spot 2. Found some good fishy looking water but no luck. On to spot 3. This spot is literally at the end of the road

. Managed to connect with a short 17" walleye. Mission accomplished. A little later banged a nice smallie that went aerial. About 16" I would say. The weather started getting nasty with sleet and rain so started the long ride home. Great river. I love exploring it. Wonder if the walleye are on the spawn as have only caught males the last few times out.
