Found a way to beat the heat yesterday by jumping in and out of NJ's streams and rivers. Did some fishing at the same time of course. Caught all the usual river suspects, Blue gills, Rock Bass, White Perch, Chubbs, Smallies, Trout and ended the night doing some Flatheadin'! Haven't gotten anything really big yet but hoping to hit it hard soon. Managed to land 2 out of 3 and both being around 29-30 inches weighing 9-10 lbs. The 2 I got were ripping drag and fighting really well. Gotta love this time of year on the rivers. Waters still nice, cool and refreshing. Flatheads just came off the spawn or are just about done. It's not really go time yet.
On another note, the Blue gill pictured was 9.5 inches. Sorry the pic doesn't do it justice. Ahhhhhhh, the small fish don't matter too much anyway. They all wind up in my bait bucket and get thrown down to the depths as bait this time of year, LOL!!!
