I hit the Passaic after work today for the first time since I moved in to my new place. I haven't had too much time to fish lately but it was great to get out for two hours this afternoon. I started at a park I had biked past but the water was low, shallow and weedy and there wasn't much going on. A guy who also showed up there told me about a better spot downstream so I made a move.
Got to the new spot and threw a spinnerbait around for 10 minutes and got nothing, so I switched over to a dark green and red Zman ned rig worm and jighead. I threw it into some current, bounced it a few times and I was on!
It fought like crazy, jumped 4 or 5 times and peeled drag downstream. Got her to the bank, what a beauty (minus the sore on the tail

). I didn't have my taoe measure but my handle is 18" so i think it was right around 17", maybe 3lbs. Great day on the water and my PB smallmouth!
